Hmm, I have the paid version, but I suppose the free one might work OK. Off the top of my head, I do know that the free version is non-unicode, which might result in incorrectly displayed characters when searching. Also, there have been a lot of changes cince that version, see: [url removed]
It's definitely worth a try, though, since Xbench is a great tool for searching multiple terminology resources at once, whether glossaries or TMXs!
It's also a great QA tool that converts file formats well.
