Hi,

AFAIK it's not possible to write to multiple TMs while working. To send all translations to your local TM after the translation is done you can either make your local TM the Working TM, select all segments (ctrl-shift-A) and confirm with ctrl+enter, or make it your Master TM and confirm all segments using ctrl+shift-u (Confirm and update rows)

ok - thanks - i think i'll make my local TM the working one next time and then export/import to the client TM before i deliver the job. anyway, i like to synchronize with server only at the end of job.

File freezes on opening. Is it because of preview?

I have memoQ 8.1. I'm working on a server project and there is this file that whenever I tried to open it for translation, there will be a big chance (not 100%, but about 60%-70%) it freezes and I have to kill the process in my Windows' process manager and restart memoQ.

It is driving me crazy because there are much bigger files from the same project and I can open them without any problem. I tried repairing resources but it didn't help. At last I turned off preview, which seems solved the problem, but it does feel weird as the preview also works fine for other large files of the same project.

BTW when I turn on preview(and luckily not freeze the file), it takes more time to upload (it shows "uploading...") than other files. I just wonder if there is some unique reason for it.

I had my computer powered on for over a week in a row while working on two big projects in MemoQ.

Now suddenly I can't even browse the files in MemoQ Documents view, and there is a dialogue saying "MemoQ was unable to connect to the server and synchronize the document. Your copy may not be up-to-date."

I even installed the new version 8.1, but same sluggishness all of a sudden. Worked quite well before.

What should I do?

Now MemoQ is completely unresponsive since several hours. I've restarted the computer several time, nothing works.

Now I could open a file again, but I get this error message (and no hits in the TM):

"Failed to get latest version of remote resources because the remote server is not available.
Your resources may not be up to date."

And MemoQ is completely unresponsive, I can't close dialogue boxes etc. until long, long time.

Are you working on a project at a memoQ server located at your customer? If that is the case, it could well be that the server is down... Talk to your customer to find out. If the server is down, there is very little you can do until your customer starts it again. They might have turned it down unadvertedly for some backup or maintenance, or it might have crashed and nobody noticed because of the weekend.

I tried one last thing now: checking out this problem project and checking out my other customer's big project. For this problem project I received the same error message again that no connection could be established with the server, but for my other customer's big project I could connect to it.

each client has its independent server. One of the servers is down but the other one is live and kicking. I cannot figure out what's your problem?

If they are different customers, obviously one server is working and the other is down for some reason. The fastest thing for you to do would be call them and call to their attention that the server seems to be down. This way, you will do a favour to other people working for them just now. Good luck!

Yes, of course that was my intention to checkout again, to verify whether the problem project differed in this regard to other projects. But not much to do than sending an e-mail and wait until they wake up (I work in another time zone).

Now I have a white background and big red cross in the upper part of MemoQ. But the TM connection works again, received reply from the customer that they had issues with the server. But what does this red cross mean?

And what is the best way for future big projects like this to avoid this happening again? Is it always possible to get a local version of the project if I ask the customer? So that I use that immediately when the server connection is lost for longer periods, and then just synchronize later?

What should I do so I can browse and open the files in a MemoQ project? | I have never seen this red cross but maybe you should simply restart MemoQ?

I don't know what the red cross means, maybe you should restart the CAT tool?

As far as I am aware, no client will be ready to give to you a "local version"(offline version?) of its project. The only possibility is to export a bilingual RTF file and work with it during a client's server crash and then import the file after crash ending.

Restart not only your computer, but everything between it and Internet (router, modem, "box"...).
Leave all these devices unplugged for a while to ensure that any temp memory is erased as well.

Is it possible to perform a pretranslate sequence for selected docuuments?

Scenario:
I have many documents that a very similar for which pretranslations exist, is it possible to perform the pretranslate sequence: Preparation -> Clear Translations, Preparation -> Pre-translate on all selected documents?

Tasks -> Pre-translate does not suffice (because 100% translations are not confirmed)

What will be the price if I want to purchase a one year SMA for a MemoQ licence I bought long ago?

I found this information on the MemoQ website:

"If you want to keep on upgrading your memoQ license and accessing technical support after the first year, you will need to renew your support and maintenance agreement (SMA) which is 20% of memoQ’s list price, and lasts for another year. Please do this once your SMA expires."

Suppose I bought my licence in May 2011 and the SMA expired in the end of April 2012. Thereafter, I never used the software, so naturally I have never bought any additional annual SMA.

Now, if I want to resume the use of MemoQ, I guess I must buy an SMA before I can use it. Do you know how much it will cost to buy an SMA in a situation like this?

AFAIK, you would be asked to pay for all of the years from May 2012 to May 2018, that is to say, 6 years... It would be much cheaper to buy a new license (especially with the "usual" 40% discounts you can find around...).

on your country. I live in Latvia and some days ago paid 150 EUR but I acquired the CAT tool a year ago. Regarding your situation, it's possible that you must buy a new license but I am not sure about it.

FYI, before paying for another full licence, most clients would offer you a so called ELM licence to work for them on specific projects. This is a sort of a temporary licence. In some cases it only works for the duration of the project. I think it would be a better option. I do not think I got my money's worth from the upgrades in the last 5-6 years... Obviously, it's just me :D

Is there any way to batch replace a lot of 99 % match segments containing a tag?

There are a lot of files that I've opened in one single view now in MemoQ, but it doesn't work to just find and replace as there is one tag in this segment I want to replace.

I'm connected to an online project, so my options to change settings myself are limited (and the project is to be delivered within a few hours, and my customer is not at work yet). Otherwise, shouldn't I have had the option to change percentage for fuzzy matches what regards auto-propagation?

Or would it work to run a QA in MemoQ, then make a batch change in the QA report?

Hi all,

I have encountered a weird case while working on a project.

I got a word file. I have created a project using that file. Since I get a lot of similar files, I have a rather straightforward workflow and established TM and TB. I am using memoQ 2015 v. 7.8.167 and I didn't have any updates on any programs since my last use of the program.

Both join and split commands are active, clickable. I can join segments but I cannot split any segments.

I tried to split a segment in various positions (end of a sentence, middle of a word etc.). I have joined two segments and tried to split them at the joining location.

No luck at all. Did anyone experience a similar problem?
