Hello,

short introduction because I'm new here: Our company uses MemoQ to manage the translations of our software. In the development, we use special phrases to form singular/plural sentences. These phrases make some trouble because the translators are often no aware of the syntax and so, they translate the wrong parts, which destroys the syntax.

One example for a number of unread messages:
{COUNT, select, 0{unread messages} 1{unread message} other{unread messages}}

That has the meaning of
COUNT=0 => unread messages
COUNT=1 => unread message
ELSE => unread messages

Is it possible to lock everything except "unread messages", "unread message" and "unread messages"?

I tried to setup a regexp but I didn't find a solution the lock only some parts. In the tagging filter, groups only seem to work for the displayed text.

BTW: I know that in other languages, the differences between count 0,1,else may not be enough to form a correct sentence.

Have you considering inserting ">" as a prompt to break a segment? It would separate the string you want to lock from the string you want to translate. I am not sure if memoQ has this capability, but you could then add a filter "if segment contain COUNT/ELSE/etc., then lock."

How do I remedy the annoying selection marking and cursor moving around in Managing projects view?

What happens is that I open this small window Managing projects in MemoQ and have a long list of all my project displayed. Then, at the slightest movement with my mouse a lot of rows gets selected, and sometimes the display moves to the right side also.

It's very annoying, don't know how to remedy this. Could it be that my list of projects is too long? I think I didn't have this problem before, with less projects in the list.

The behaviour you describe doesn't happen for me. Mind you, I don't keep many projects in the window, I move them to MemoQ's Recycle Bin once they are completed, where they are still accessible later if needed. Could the problem be a bad mouse, or a low mouse battery? No rows should be selected just by moving the mouse without pressing any of its buttons.

I checked out a review project from a client's server and I'm unable to activate track changes. I'm using memoQ v. 8.7.12. The client can activate TC on his side, so the problem can't be with the file. I would be grateful for suggestions.

This is an interesting problem, because the Regex Tagger term is normally that what should be tagged. It can be "tricked" by using a lookahead

.*(?=unread messages)
.*(?=unread message)

Each with $0 as “Display text”

Hi guys! A part of the same problem - trying MemoQ instead of Trados and cannot find the setting for the correct insert. Scanning and auto inserting best results are ticked but I guess those are not what I'm looking for, 'cause I don't need them "after confirming", just when I click on the segment. E.g. I go to the blank/cleared segment, the TM finds a 99% or smth unit but doesn't insert it by itself, I have to do it manually. The same is when I join segments, the 101% match is shown, but is not auto inserted. Thou sometimes I got lucky but seems only with assembled units. That was mush easier in Trados. Cannot find the setting in help manuals. So what am I missing?

Right-click is not allowed in the view pane. Also in the customizing appearance, no configuration isn't available for the view pane.

Is there anyone to help, or is it simply not possible?

I'm working on a project on memoq server which I am finding cumbersome. I am more comfortable in my desktop version (8.7) and would much prefer working it offline. I have already completed some 100 segments and when I try to checkout the file I get a ""memoQWeb - Unexpected error". I don't know if this is more serious than an expected error but... (lol)

Is this because I have already started it or is there something I am not doing? I'm a bit of a neophyte with the Web version.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a Check out from server button at the top of your desktop memoq. It's not the same as working offline but it's an alternative to using the web version.

Before starting the translation you check the project out (as you seem to have done).
When it is checked out it shows in the project list. After that you cannot check it out again, you need to open the project by clicking it in the list every time you want to work on it.
Once you are done, you deliver the project by clicking deliver/return.

Hello! Got the same problem of greyed out Translation Memory pane--cannot register local nor create new etc. But the roots of the issue are a bit different, 'coz the project is local and is already in "My computer". Though it was created from the other PC in the local server folder, not in MemoQ server. Other projects created the same way work nice on both PCs. The only difference is that I've created this one using "One TM and one TB per language pair" template unlike the others (just clicking new project).

Actually, the issue remains at the PC of project creation. Moreover, another project appears to be troublesome. The difference between them and "normal" ones is that they are multilingual. Is it really not possible to change translation memories in multilingual projects after creation in the MemoQ Project manager software or am I missing some settings?
