As per: [url removed]

Of course, you do need a subscription from DeepL to get the API key.

I've never done this before, but I guess a good starting point is for you to tell us which of the steps at the URL Michael gave you have been able to complete successfully, and if there are any steps that you were not able to complete. I don't know if that page of instructions is complete or not, but it appears to be a good, official starting point (at least, then we can tell at which point the problem might be occurring): [url removed]

Secondly, can you please confirm that you have a DeepL Pro API key? Again, I haven't done this myself, but it appears that you need an "individual", "monthly", "advanced" subscription: [url removed]

If you don't have such a subscription, which other subscription do you have?

@Samuel.. thanks, yes I have a subscription to DeepL which I have been paying for monthly for the last year and a half. (although I only pay €20 per month, so maybe I'm grandfathered in to an older rate). I was getting stuck at step 3 (Select the MT profile you are using and under the list, click Edit.) because there was no list. The support guy took care of that for me yesterday in the screen sharing session, but couldn't get it to actually work in a document. He wrote later (since I made this post) and said that he has since made a video with instructions which I will watch later when I have time (I'm working against a tight deadline at the moment). If it works, I'll post the link to the video here.

Hello,

I just installed memoQ to a new computer and I feel uncomfortable with the look I see on my new computer.
Please see the attached picture. For some reason segment height is not enough and I can't see the percentage number very well.

How can make the segment height bigger?
Of course I checked Options > Appearance and changed font size to 12 (actually the font size of the memoQ I was using in my old computer was set to 10) but no change...

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Akiko

It took me some time to find out that you have to go to "Project Settings" on the Project Home tab on the left, then to the last icon on the right "MT". There you have to tick the box DeepL or DeepL copy (I always work with copies of settings).

Setting preferences - installed memoQ to a new computer | Scaling

Post title: Scaling

You are probably using scaling of your Windows screen. The MemoQ developers haven't quite figured out how to handle that yet, which is a problem when you buy a high-resolution screen.

The following two settings made the MemoQ UI acceptable to me, though:

Options > Appearance > Translation grid icon size 175% to match screen scaling (use your Windows screen scaling percentage from Windows settings: Windows Settings > System > Display > 175%).

Options > Appearance > Translation grid score font size 75% (you may need another percentage).

I reported the problem to MemoQ support last year, so they are aware of it.

Thomas,

I do remember you helped me for other issue as well in the past.
Thank you again for your help.

It's now showing comfortably. Many thanks. I tried Translation grid score font size as 100% because 75% was a bit small and it still worked!

Hello,

I have moved memoQ project folder to a new PC but it looks transfer was not properly done and I received error messages.
Could you let me know what is wrong?
This is what I did:
1. Navigate to "C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My memoQ projects" folder on old computer and simply copy the project's folders to new computer into the same folder.
2. Navigate to the same folder (C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My memoQ projects) on my new computer and open the project from memoQ.

I received these error messages.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Post title: Migration

MemoQ (the company) provides no migration procedure. Another not very helpful aspect of the software.

But I have described the migration procedure I used at the URL below. It did work for me, but there is no guarantee it will work for everybody.

It's not enough just to copy the projects themselves. You also need the indexes and a lot more stuff.

Post title: Reregister resources

Since the error message relates to the term base and translation memories, you probably have to reregister them. To do this open the Resource console (icon on the left of the top window bar, looks like a little ring bound notebook) > Select Translation Memories > Click on Register Local > Navigate to the TM folder and open it > double-click on the .mtm file. Repeat for the Term Base and its .mtb file. Close the Resource console and the TM and TB should now appear as an available resource.

MemoQ do not add space at end of target

How do we prevent MemoQ from adding a space at the end of a target segment? A coworker for whom I review often has a space at the end and I have to keep deleting them. He said that he does not add them; they just appear. I did a search to find a way to "turn off" that "feature" but couldn't find it. (My copy of MemoQ doesn't add those spaces.)

The only thing I found was how to set QA settings, but we don't want them to just show up as warnings in QA; we don't want them to be added in the first place.

Anybody know how to fix this? I have searched the internet and MemoQ indexes, and also this forum, and I have not found the answer.

P.S. We segment by sentences, not paragraphs. MemoQ Translator Pro 8.7.

Post title: Ask the translator to document it

Ask the translator to enable display of non-printing characters and send a screenshot before he starts typing in an empty target cell. That will clarify if there is any space before he starts typing.

In case he claims spaces are added while he types, you can ask for a screen video. Flashback Express Recorder can do that (there is a free version). When he ends the recording, he needs to select Review, then Export as e.g. WMV, not Save.

Post title: Workaround

I run into this when text is pasted into the target segment.
It is easy to fix with a regular expression search/replace. Search for " $" (without the quotes, i.e. a space followed by an end of segment $ sign). Replace with nothing.
You can do the same at the beginning of the line, searching for "^ " and replacing that with nothing.
But you will need to reconfirm all those lines, which could be a deal breaker.

Post title: Still not solved

Thank you, everyone. I shared with him the workaround suggested and he will try that.

We looked at his settings and he does not have Append Space … turned on. He did have the next line on, overwrite target with TM or corpus, and I suggested that he turn that off, because that seems to be safer, to keep the translation he meant to have in there.

We looked at a document he is working on, with non-printing characters showing. There were a few lines with one or two spaces added at the end. The ones that we looked at were ones that he translated from scratch because there were no TM results. I asked him if he wasn't sure he just types a space out of habit after the period and he said he was sure. I suggested that he watch while typing with the non-printing characters showing, to see what happens, and he will.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated!

Hello Aikiko
if you restore from back up (.mkpqf file), it should work fine. I always do so. You just have to choose wich ressource(s) you want to overwrite.

I hope, this helps

Thank you for your information and link.
This is my first time transferring the project. Transferring the license was quite easy but project is not...
You are right about memoQ not being helpful...I always liked everything about memoQ but this is my first time I do not like.

Many thanks.
I followed what you said but it looks like I did not move the resources (termbases, TM) properly because they did not show up.
I decided to try backup option. It looks easier.
