Before buying new PC, I contacted memoQ support and they told me there are 2 ways, which are 1) create a backup or 2) move the project's folder to a new computer and register.
For some reason I chose 2) and failed.
I should have chosen 1) from the beginning.

Hello,

Everytime I try to close memoQ, this message pops up.

Could you let me know how to solve this?
I know why I receive this message, though.
I was importing the TM and I closed memoQ without noticing TM import was still in process.
When I launch the memoQ again and try to close, I see this message and the message is never disappearing.
How can I see the current ongoing process? And how can I "stop" the ongoing process?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Akiko,

I get something similar occasionally. You can try opening the task manager, looking for MemoQ among the Background Processes of the Processes tab, and ending the task manually.

You can check which tasks are still running in the background and stop them by using MemoQ's task tracker.

Go to MemoQ tab > Open task tracker

Hi Kate,

Many thanks for your reply.
Yes, I did try the Windows task manager approach already but for some reason it is not shown.

John,

Many thanks. This is exactly what I was looking.
Following your reference URL I clicked on "Cancel" many times but for some reason even if I click on it nothing changes...

For sure there's a specific term for this, which obviously escapes me.
The idea is to import both source and target txt files to populate a new TM.
Many thanks in advance.

It's generally called "alignment", and if your CAT tool doesn't have such a feature built-in, you need an "aligner" (which will often generate the TM in TMX format, which you must then import into your CAT tool).

MemoQ can import a tab-deliminated text file directly into a TM.

Open the resource console and choose the appropriate TM you want to import into (or create a new one if you need to).

Right click on the TM and the choose Import from TMX/CSV. A wizard will open where you choose which column of the text file is which entry in the TMX.

Once you have made the settings, just click OK and the import will proceed.

If you have two files, one source and the other target, use the Alignment Editor. Instructions are at [url removed]

Post title: Increasing font size in translations window in memoQ is possible in version 9.2

Hi,

I am new to memoQ and find my way to this topic when having the same issue. I always want to work on bigger fonts so as not to harm my eyes.

Anyway, it is possible to increase the font in memoQ. I am using version 9.2

In order to this go to the following path:

Tools>Options>Appearance

You can see in this picture where I have increased the font size.

I hope this helps!

Good luck!

Is it possible to have QA check consistency for one TB but not the other?

Hi, everyone.

I'm currently working on a project and am using the IATE TB to assist me with terminology as well as a project-specific TB I made to maintain consistency. There's a heck of a lot of terms in the IATE TB, so obviously a lot of the terms are wrong for the context. When I confirm the segment, my good old friend the yellow lightning bolt makes an appearance: "Translation of source term ... missing from the target". I see it's from the IATE TB and, as in most cases, it's not the right word for the context – ignore. Obviously I don't want to waste time clicking ignore on these.

So, I know how to turn this off in the QA settings. However, doing so also turns it off for the project-specific TB I've created, which I use for anything and everything that I want to keep consistent.

Is it possible to turn off consistency checking for just the IATE TB? Or am I going about this wrong and I need to be using something other than TBs for maintaining consistency within a project?

Thanks in advance.

That would probably be the quickest way, though unlike me you would have to remember to put it back later on...

I need to use the IATE TB for the odd occasion that it does pop up a correct suggestion, and generally it's helpful for suggesting things and getting the brain ticking. However, now that I think more about it (and this is probably what you're getting at!), I could do the whole translation with the IATE TB on, ignoring the QA, and then turn it off when I do a proofread of it.

Go to the Term bases tab under Project home and untick the QA column for the TB.

This feature is not available in old versions, though.

Ah ha, thank you, Thomas. I'm on memoQ 8.3. Looks like I'm going to have to stop being so stingy and finally upgrade.
