Trying to see the changes in the revised sdlppx but cant see the revisions and comments

Hi,

I received the reviewed version of sdlppx package and need to accept/decline the changes made by the reviewer.

Firstly, I created the snapshot of my last version and then reimported the revised one and then under track changes clicked on "the last delivered version". (Below is the details of the Error Message that shows up at that moment.)

But I still can't see the changes and comments of the reviewer. A pop-up window says "Document's version history has no minor version matching your choice". But I had created the snapshot before. What to do now?

Master Source + Slave Source - Target languages

Hello,

In our company we have two source languages, which are Chinese and English.

Background: It is quite hard and expensive to find good localization professionals for Chinese-Other languages pairs, so we have two Chinese-English specialists and English-Other language specialists (English-Russian, English-Portuguese, English-Italian etc).

Question: I wonder is there a Master/Slave functionality for Source Languages in MemoQ?

To better understand my question I will try to give you an example below.

Our source languages are: Chinese and English

We have two master files: Chinese=English; English=Other languages;

What we want to achieve: Synchronization between Chinese (Master Source) and English (Slave Source), with all changes in strings available for English-Other language specialists in real time.

How we see it should work: We have a master file in Chinese. If there were any changes been made or new strings added in Chinese, Chinese-English specialists work on the changes or translate new strings. At the same time English-Other language specialists are able to see these new added stings or the changes that have been made by Chinese-English specialists.

I do have the same problem - using the MemoQ free version - so after a system crash I wanted to open my project again and got the same error message as shown in your post. My project also meets the memoq free requirements (one document and one associated TM) ... so I dont understand what's the problem.
Can you please tell me how you solved the issue! K

Right, I'll try and keep it brief, even though it's late and I'm fed up with memoQ right now.

I've got memoQ 8.4 installed, don't own a license. A client of mine wants to make an ELM license available to me, but my version insists on CAL. The options shown to me in the activation wizard are something along the lines of:

1) I'm a new user, ....
2) I've already got a serial number
3) I want to use CAL through the internal network

I just checked on my other laptop, same installation and there the options are

1) I wish to update my licenses from Kilgray's central server
2) I wish to update my ELM linceses...
3) I wish to configure CAL

So where is the option "I wish to configure ELM" in the installation on my new machine, please? And more importantly, why did it change in the first place? I'm 100% sure I didn't mess with the configuration.

Hello. I have a new laptop, thus I imported all my memoQ TM and termbases from my older laptop to the new one. I simply copied and pasted the folders. According to instructions, I should go to Resources, Translation Memories (or Term bases) and click on Register local to have my resources available again.

Nevertheless, Register local command is greyed out. I have almost 20 unusable translation memories and term bases from my older laptop. Is there a registry or something I could change in order to rescue my old translation memories?

I've seen that this problem has been already posted here, but no solution has been provided yet (or I cannot find it).

I would appreciate your help.

Earlier this morning, I put the computer in sleep mode, MQ 2013 R2 and project open, with many strings changed and unconfirmed (rereading stage). So my latest changes weren't in the TM.
At wake-up, blue screen of death (Windows 7).
I restarted and this error popped up when trying to open the project.
Searched same error on the internet. Found this thread.

Tried the "delete TermExtract.xml" solution. Didn't work.

It's Sunday. I shouldn't be working but due to poor time management, I still have this to deliver first thing Monday.

I checked what project files had been changed today:
project.mprx
HandoffData.bin
DocumentData.sdf
MonolingualReview.xml
many Opt-XXX files

I opened DocumentData.sdf in Notepad and found out that my most recent changes were in there. At worst I could clean up a bit the txt format (coding havoc) and copy paste each segment after recreating a project... Very time consuming. The prospect of spending Sunday on this was all but exciting.

So besides deleting TermExtract.xml, I boldy decided to delete all other xml files with the latest modification date (actually not deleted but moved to another place). Of all files last modified at 10:07, I kept only project.mprx, HandoffData.bin and DocumentData.sdf.

Bingo.
I closed MQ, reopened it, clicked the project and got back to where I was at 10:07.

Moral of the story:
Update your TM (confirm and update rows) whenever you leave your computer. Or better still, close the project and backup project in the project list window.

Maybe MemoQ is unaware of copied TMs (I suppose you copied all Translation Memories folder). I suggest to create a dummy project with dummy (empty) TM on the new laptop, to make MemoQ aware of some TM.
There is another simple (but time consuming) solution. You should create some empty TMs (with similar names) and then import TMX files (from the old laptop) into these empty TMs.

Tag character in character count

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a way to show the character of an inline tag in the character count bar below the panel, but I'm not having any success so far... Is there any way to have it shown or a workaround that do not involve manually count the characters of a tag?
I'm currently using memoQ 7.8.52.

I have integrated in memoQ the search function for the online Microsoft glossary. I have just to press Control+ F3 to look for a term on that glossary. But unlike other online glossaries that I have setup in my memoQ, memoQ does not insert automatically the search term into the search field of the Microsoft page. I have to write manually the term each time.
Is there a way to achieve the automatic insertion ?

Change the search string from what memoQ currently has to this:

[url removed] {}&langID=Greek&Source=true&productid=All%20Products

Don't forget, of course, to substitute your target language for "Greek": langID=Spanish, for example.

Don't you have a soft keyboard (software keyboard, virtual keyboard), a utility displaying a keyboard on the screen. If you have any, you can set it to your preferred language, find the accented chars, and insert them by clicking them.

Well, if power supply were lost at the wrong moment, it may happen that your file could not be written properly, and it really get corrupted. I hope you have a backup (created either using a backup tool, or Windows's built in File History), otherwise you might not be able to get your file back. Still, you can contact memoQ Support to give a chance to your file to get fixed.

Kilgray insisted that this problem was due to a "weak" or "lesser" edition of Office. Such edition does not exist, though. I have Office 365.

The problem is really due to memoq 8 deciding bitness automatically: if your system is a 64-bit system, memoq will run its 64-bit version. Now, if you have installed the 32-bit version of Office, that's why memoq says "Word is not available".

I did my own research and found that, as Kilgray's terrible support wanted me to yet again submit a project backup, as always, for any kind of problem...

Now that I did the work their developers should have done, I hope they provide a solution soon, because the Hunspell checkers for Greek are very poor.

So it turns out there was a conflict with my old Office software. I disinstalled that and then a Microsoft technician repaired Office for me and reinstalled the language package. I can confirm all is working now. I did it through the online chat help of Office, which I must say was impressive.
